Description of community agency/organization:
REACHOUT COMMITTEE INC programs and activities includes community engagement, public education, youth awareness sessions and research. Programs and activities are categorized as follows: 1. PUBLIC AWARENESS &PUBLIC EDUCATION PROGRAMS: * Annual Walk for Peace which promotes awareness of youth violence and the effects it has on families and the community *Annual SOS Stop the Violence Concert which brings the youth together to express their talents as well has unite youth on one common ground and bring healing to many who have lost loved ones to violence. *Annual Back to School Barbeque that assists families who cannot afford the basic needs to return to school for the new school year. 2. YOUTH ENGAGEMENT/INSTITUTIONAL ENGAGEMENT *Youth education and Information sessions (involves guest speaker) *Institution & Community Engagment -- Eg. engagements with police, schools, community organizations, 3. SKILL DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMS/VOLUNTEER DEVELOPMENT * Volunteer program which provide volunteer opportunities


Position title:
YOUTH VOLUNTEER


What you will do:
• Answer incoming calls and document all the information requested. • Book appointments by checking the availability of the counsellor as well as the client. • Provide assistance with general office duties such as filing, photocopying, faxing, mailing etc. • Prepare packages to courier or mail as needed • Provide assistance with postage and thank-you letters • Organize and assist with promotional material inventory • Other duties as assigned

Skills required:
Requirements: • Basic computer skills • knowledge of MS Office applications • Excellent communication skills • Able to speak fluently in English • Team player • Strong organization skills • Eagar to learn


Skills you will learn:
• Volunteer letter will be given describing type of work done during the term • Can be used as a creditable reference when applying for jobs in the future. • Good opportunity to gain administrative experience in office environment.
