Peel board targets youth unemployment
Through several partnerships and innovative programs the Centre for Education & Training offers youth a helping hand in finding employment through such programs as the following:
- Youth Opportunities Canada matches unemployed, job-ready youth with local employers
- Career Coach - The mobile unit travels to various locations throughout the region of Peel and Halton providing career counseling and job search assistance to youth at risk between the ages of 16 -30 and to newcomers to Canada.
- Employability Skills for Youth program provides unemployed youth, between the ages 16 and 30, with a 10-week program designed to showcase career options and to enhance employability and job search skills.
If you're looking for a job, look no further than your local YMCA Employment Centre. YMCA offers employment services for youth ages 16-24.

Job Connect Services offers services such as one- to -one employment counselling, pre-employment training on resume, cover letter development, job searching, and interviewing, career exploration and job placement.

Access to Employment Project is a program designed to provide persons with a diagnosed disability with Employment Planning, Preparation and Retention who are aged 16 and up in the Mississauga and Brampton area. Job Development and Job retention

Job Development Support Services is an employment program available to those who are currently on Employment Insurance (EI) or Reachback; unemployed, out of full time school and actively seeking work. Recruiters assist individuals with finding gainful employment within their target area. All clients must be referred through an assessment centre.

Summer Job Services is an employment program that’s offered to students that are returning to school in September. Program registration will begin in April and will continue throughout the summer months. Interested candidates must contact the YMCA to register for their orientation session. Assistance with pre-employment skills will also be available

Youth Enhancement Support Services provides Pre -Employment and Life skills training offered through the YMCA. Candidates must be between the ages of 15 and 30 at the time of selection, out of school. Candidates will be paid for the 3 week training period.
