Description of community agency/organization:

Founded in 1886, The Royal Conservatory of Music is an independent,
self-sustaining, not-for-profit arts organization whose mission is to foster
the development of human potential through music and arts education. As a
leading school of music, The Royal Conservatory of Music has produced
distinguished musicians acclaimed throughout the world. More than 400,000
Canadians participate in Conservatory programs annually, and The Royal
Conservatory of Music has become one of the largest music education
institutions in the world.

The high standards of The Royal Conservatory of Music curriculum are made
available and accessible to students across North America through the RCM
Examinations Certificate Program. RCM Examinations is the division of The
Royal Conservatory of Music dedicated to administering the Certificate
Program on the RCM curriculum. Examinations are conducted three times each
year in more than 300 communities through a network of RCM Examinations
Centres.

RCM Examinations proudly opened its Mississauga South branch at the Adamson
Estate, 850 Enola Avenue, in January of 2003.

What you will do:

Theory Examinations' Officers - You will help with set-up before and set-down after the examination. You will supervise theory students writing exams, and help to ensure a successful examination experience.

Practical Examinations' Officers - You will run the exam centre on-site and officiate student attendance. You will assist the centre representative, examiners, teachers and students, and help to ensure a successful examination experience.

Skills required:

Promptness, reliability and courtesy. Ability to complete assigned tasks independently and efficiently. Musical background and prior knowledge of the RCM Examinations system an asset. Standard first aid certification is beneficial, but not required. All ages welcome.

Skills you will learn:

Customer service, leadership, networking, exam centre co-ordination and administration. Community service hours and reference letters will be provided to the candidate upon successful completion of volunteer hours and duties.

Between 3 to 8 hours

The RCM Community School in Mississauga is located at 850 Enola Ave (south of Lakeshore Blvd., between Cawthra Rd. and Hurontario St.).
