After high School
There are five post-secondary options for you to consider after graduation:
Apprenticeship
Apprenticeship is paid work-based training combined with post-secondary education. Apprentices spends most of their time learning on-the-job skills under the direction of a skilled professional. They spend much less time in a classroom setting.
College
College can offer you a range of choices focused on specific occupations:
- certificate programs that take one year or less to finish
- diploma programs, two or three years
- apprenticeship and certification programs for skilled trades
- programs that lead to a bachelor degree
- concurrent programs with universities, that let you earn a university degree and a college diploma at the same time
Independent living
The Peel board is committed to success for all students. For some, that means developing the skills and ability to live independently in the community.
University
- undergraduate programs leading to a bachelor degree
- graduate programs leading to master's and doctorate degrees
- continuing education programs and certificates, including distance and part-time programs
- concurrent programs with colleges, that let you earn a university degree and a college diploma at the same time
Work
There are many jobs you can start right after graduating that offer on-the-job training . The key to success is finishing high school.
