Learning online is both similar to and different from learning in a classroom. As a student you will still read, work on your own and as a member of a group, complete assignments and interact with your teacher. As well, you will complete quizzes, add to discussions, complete research and report online. However, you can not do everything online. Most courses will require you to research and practice skills off line. Discuss your choice of online courses with your guidance counsellor. You will require access to a computer and should be comfortable using one. Please make sure you do the self-test before registering for an online course.

Windows PC Pentium 133 CPU, 32 Mg RAM, sound card, 800 x 600 Display resolution on your monitor, 4X CD-ROM, Windows 95, 98, ME, 2000 or XP, 56 Kbps modem, printer, Internet Service Provider Browser: Internet Explorer 6.0 or higher, Netscape 6.0 or higher, Mozilla 1.7 ( not AOL we do not support it).

Macintosh: The internal HTML Editor tool and file upload tool in our course management system is not supported by MacIntosh computers. Submitting your assignments will not work if you are using a Mac.

Our course management system does require cookies on the client browser.

Software: A Word Processor for all courses (preferably MS Word or one that can read Word documents). Your Word processor must be able to save in MS Word 97 or Rich Text Format. Additional software requirements are dependent on the course.

PLEASE NOTE: Students may only register for one full-credit course (or two half-credit courses) in a semester at Night School, whether online or in the classroom.
