Credit For Prior Learning
If you are over the age of 18 years and have not completed a high school diploma, you may be able to graduate faster than you think. PLAR stands for Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition. It is a formal evaluation where credits may be granted based on your past learning and experience.
PLAR may allow an adult to quickly obtain a number of secondary school credits. An adult’s credit count is often at a point where only few additional credits are required to complete the Ontario high school diploma when the number of courses already passed is considered with factors such as work experience and past subject-related experience.
PLAR assessments take place once per semester (three to four times per year).
