Welcome to Adult PLAR
If you are over the age of 18 years without a high school diploma, you may be able to graduate faster than you think. PLAR stands for Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition. It is a formal evaluation and credit-granting process for past learning and experience.
PLAR provides an exciting opportunity for an adult to obtain a number of secondary school credits in a relatively brief period of time. By assessing the number of courses already passed combined with other factors such as work experience and other past subject-related experience, a potential mature student’s credit count is generally at a point where few additional credits are required to complete the Ontario high school diploma.
PLAR assessments take place once per semester (three to four times per year).
